I’ll offer a few gentle prompts to keep things flowing, but these sessions are all about capturing you as you are, and not forcing anything. You'll feel comfortable and at ease, so that you can just focus on spending time with your most important people.

"Documentary" means that I'm going to focus on photographing your family in a real way, instead of posing you the entire time. I'll give prompts and direction as needed, but I'm primarily going to let the moments unfold as they will. I'm not looking for "perfect", I'm looking to capture the genuine smiles, giggles, glances and connection between you and your loved ones. This will result in photos that feel less forced, and more natural.

Meet Amanda
Being a mama myself, I can relate to the chaos of family life, the ups and downs of pregnancy, and I understand the emotions the changes that come with having a newborn. These experiences makes me an even better photographer now than I was before I had a family, because I have a much deeper understanding of the journey that women have when they enter motherhood.
I know that embracing the chaos of little ones can be challenging, especially when you really just want some nice photos. I promise we're still going to get those photos AND they will feel less forced and more natural. I also know how important it is to get mom in the photo too, because you're always the one taking the photos at home. You're going to receive a gallery full of beautiful, emotion-driven images of the whole family in a relaxed photography session, that's my promise!

I’ve been a lover of 35mm film since learning how to develop it in my high school’s darkroom (it was a closet). Film preserves emotion in a way that is difficult to replicate in digital format, that’s why I offer it as an add on to my clients. You’ll have the option to receive a mix of film and digital photos, which allows me to provide you with emotion-driven, nostalgic images that blend documentary and cinematic styles.

Planning Guidance
Feedback I consistently receive from my families is that I have a way of helping them feel calm and relaxed during their session so that they can just enjoy themselves. I’m an easy-going person who is great at pivoting and taking things as they come; adaptability should be my middle name! The last thing I want is for you to feel stressed during your session, and I will work hard to make sure that doesn’t happen.

- I'm a mom. I've experienced pregnancy, post-partum life with a newborn, and family life with a little one. This life experience makes me a better photographer because I can relate with those I'm photographing.
- Fine Arts background: I have a BFA in Fine Arts, where I studied photography and other mediums. I have taken many photography education courses outside of university too!
- I'm outdoorsy and up for any family adventures that you have in mind!
- I'm great at keeping people feeling relaxed: I'm told again and again by my couples how relaxed and easy I made everything for them.
